I have experience with adolescents and adults who struggle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I apply a mixture of person-centered, psychoeducation, CBT, DBT, strength-based, mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy. My duty as a therapist is to help increase my clients' self-awareness, create healthier patterns, and gain healthy coping skills that they can utilize daily. I also use humor in sessions! As someone familiar with experiences of abuse, homelessness, depression, and anxiety, I believe that anyone's difficult past can help them discover a better version of themselves for a higher purpose. What therapy with me is like: I am an LGBTQ+ affirming clinician and use an integrative counseling approach, drawing from multiple modalities and theories. I most often draw from person-centered and reality therapy perspectives. I challenge my clients by offering multiple points of view while ensuring they feel they have the autonomy to take with them what works and leave the rest. I often assign homework between sessions so that growth can occur in and out of the therapy space. I welcome and encourage my clients to give me feedback about what is and isn’t working for them. While I have undergone extensive training to be an effective therapist, my clients are the experts of their own lives, and I strongly encourage them to use their instinctual sense of whether something is working or not. I also believe therapy is a great space to practice new ways of communicating and existing in the world—unsure how to have adaptive confrontation? I will support you in confronting me in sessions to practice a new skill. I work with my clients to feel their emotions and not just think about them. I incorporate artistic and somatic practices to improve one's ability to sit with, feel, and release emotions that weigh them down.
