Hi, I’m Miranda Puente, LSW, a licensed social worker based in Pueblo, Colorado. I offer both in-person and telehealth therapy services. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults, and I’ve worked extensively with individuals experiencing acute and complex mental health challenges, including schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, major depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mood-related concerns.

I use a client-centered and collaborative approach to therapy, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also incorporate trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused techniques, always tailoring my approach to fit each person’s unique needs and life experiences.

I truly love helping people on their journey toward healing and growth. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. I believe therapy works best when it feels genuine and human, and I’m committed to walking alongside you as you build coping skills, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.

I’m a therapist who integrates DBT, CBT, and mindfulness-based approaches to help clients better understand themselves, manage emotions, and create meaningful change. My style is compassionate, direct, and collaborative — I believe growth happens when people feel both supported and challenged. I work to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, and move toward a life that feels more grounded and intentional.

I specialize in working with individuals recovering from relationship trauma, whether from romantic relationships or childhood experiences. A holistic approach recognizes that emotional and relational well-being is shaped by interconnected areas of your life, your physical health, relationships, work, spirituality, family dynamics, and financial stability as an integrated whole. Drawing on focused expertise in trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, insomnia and sleep issues, ADHD, OCD, and anger management, this work helps clients understand the patterns these experiences create and build practical tools for lasting healing. Trauma and unmanaged mental health symptoms often lead to substance use and addictions as individuals attempt to self-regulate and cope with overwhelming emotional pain.

If you're cycling through relationships that feel familiar but destructive, struggling with sleep, wrestling with anxiety that won't respond to medication alone, dealing with anger that feels out of control, or reaching for substances to quiet overwhelming feelings, you're not broken. Your nervous system and behavioral patterns developed as intelligent adaptations to what you've experienced.

As a clinician trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, trauma treatment becomes active rather than talk-based, helping your brain process traumatic memories so they no longer trigger the same emotional and physical reactions.  As a CAMS-II Certified Anger Management Specialist, the focus is on understanding the root of angry responses and developing practical skills to interrupt reactive patterns before they damage your relationships. With ACC credentials in addiction counseling, the work addresses how addictive patterns developed as coping mechanisms and how to target root causes rather than just managing symptoms. These active methods create real shifts in how your brain and body respond to triggers.

Together, we map out exactly why your nervous system responds the way it does, how old wounds get replayed in new relationships, and what specific skills actually interrupt the cycle. We explore the whole person rather than just the symptoms, working to understand the experiences and strengths that shape your life. We address trauma, anxiety, depression, insomnia, anger, and addictions not as isolated problems, but as interconnected pieces of your story.

The goal is to help you strengthen self-awareness, rebuild trust in yourself, build resilience, improve relationships, process difficult experiences, and reconnect with your authentic self so you can move forward with greater confidence, purpose, and hope.

My dedication to helping others was shaped by formative life experiences and strengthened through years of personal growth and professional development. Serving as a medic in the military was a pivotal experience that deepened my commitment to walking alongside people during moments of crisis, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Since then, I have supported individuals through a variety of roles, gaining a deeper appreciation for the resilience people demonstrate while navigating life’s most difficult challenges.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan experiencing trauma, grief, mental health concerns, major life transitions, involvement with the legal system, and other significant stressors. These experiences have expanded my understanding of the many ways people adapt, heal, and create meaningful change.

My education and clinical training have strengthened my therapeutic skills while continuing to shape my empathy, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique story. I am especially drawn to an Adlerian approach, which emphasizes holistic care, social connection, personal strengths, and the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth and fulfillment. I integrate evidence-based practices within this framework to help clients develop insight, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

In therapy, I strive to create a supportive and authentic space where individuals can explore vulnerability, develop self-awareness, and approach themselves with compassion rather than judgment. I believe that courage and connection are essential parts of healing, and that when people recognize their strengths and feel understood, they can move toward greater well-being and a more fulfilling life.

I strongly admire all that social work represents, from relationship building and self-determination to skill strengthening and empowerment, as well as cultivating agency and self-advocacy among individuals and communities, and highlighting the importance of putting systems theory into practice. I apply this concept and consider the biological, psychological, and social-environmental influences on clients and the community. I also recognize and apply the framework of intersectionality as it relates to my clients. Emphasizing a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist lens while engaging in therapy. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Colorado Mesa University in 2019. I then graduated from Colorado State University with a master's degree in social work in 2021. I am currently working towards obtaining my Doctorate in social work from Capella University. During my down time, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. listening to podcasts, reading books, cooking delicious foods, shopping, and staying active

Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.
