I use an integrative approach to meet my clients where they are, tailoring my methods to honor each unique and individual experience. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. I aim to walk alongside you through the uncertainty, challenges, and messiness that life often brings, helping you navigate the twists and turns with clarity and resilience. Together, we can explore and uncover the root of your concerns, identify the barriers that may be holding you back, and develop strategies to move towards inner peace, growth, and happiness. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, or navigating a major life transition, I am here to support you. Whatever it is that you're carrying, we'll face it together with compassion, curiosity, and care, while working toward a sense of empowerment and healing.

I have provided therapeutic interventions as an outpatient therapist and crisis counselor for 10 years; working with people with acute mental health concerns and people with serious and persistent mental health disorders.

I have worked with people of diverse backgrounds over my career. In helping clients achieve their mental health goals, I acknowledge and support developing a strong therapeutic relationship with my client to best support my clients in developing awareness and skills needed to achieve the therapeutic goals that you set. I believe in a client-centered approach that focuses on interventions that will work best with each, individual client for the best result, based on the beliefs and values of those clients

I understand that people have situations that come up in their lives while working on goals and have, and hope to continue to, help my clients learn skills needed to help manage those problems and increase awareness of how they impact my clients' mental health. I will support you in making changes in your mental health when you are ready to begin.

"I believe therapy should feel like a safe space to land—a place where you can show up exactly as you are and feel seen, heard, and supported. Whether you're navigating past trauma, current life stressors, relationship challenges, or anxiety, my goal is to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care. I’m a Social Work Candidate with a Master of Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver and over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, and I bring a deep respect for each person’s unique story and strengths. My approach to therapy is holistic, client-centered, and grounded in the belief that healing looks different for everyone. I draw from a range of therapeutic methods—including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, recreational and art-based practices—and I am currently deepening my work in somatic and expressive therapies. Most importantly, I tailor each session to your individual needs, goals, and pace. It’s not always easy to reach out for support, but I truly believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship. If you’re looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help you grow, I’d be honored to connect with you."

Hello, I am very excited to embark on this journey with you to improve your mental health! My approach to counseling combines uncovering negative experiences and beliefs that harm your mental well-being with providing you practical tools to work through these issues. I achieve this by integrating skills from DBT, CBT, and ACT with deeper work through EMDR and IFS therapies. I have worked with a diverse range of clients, including children, teens, families, and individual adults, and I believe that this knowledge allows for a holistic approach to working with each person. I hope that through our partnership, I can offer you the help you seek!

"It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become." One of my favorite quotes from Dr. Seuss; his wise words sum up my approach to working with any client, from preschool age to midlife. I believe in transparency and client empowerment; YOU are the one who decides what your goals are. My hope and my goal are to help you work through whatever obstacles you may face and develop a roadmap for success. With several years of experience in trauma therapy, I believe in establishing a safe environment, and I promise all of my clients that their voices will be heard. I look forward to working with you and discovering what can become of the journey we take together!

Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.

I really appreciate the fact that someone I had only talked with for an hour was willing to listen and to help me take on the weight of my world and to give me hope in getting my life back on the right path that I needed . Thanks

Serena Chalepah, LPCC
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Serena has not only knowledge, but compassion, understanding, guidance to push through whatever obstacles I have faced, and the advice needed to learn new traits or skills. I’ve definitely had a battle of finding a therapist I not only connect with, but someone I’m comfortable sharing some uncomfortable situations with to help move past. She’s been so very patient with me and my life’s ups and downs. I can’t thank her enough for being so genuine! Has been nothing but a great experience!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have been with overcomers for years as a therapy patient and recently transfered from a different psychiatrist to Shannon Powell. She made the whole process so simple and seamless. I was honestly expecting things to be a lot more difficult but was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for making me feel so heard and understood! 10/10 stars!

Miranda Puente, LSW
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I feel like she listens to everything I have to say in a non-judgemental way. She remains nuetral and provide valid information as necessary and doesnt feed into my delusions, yet help me escape them step by step. When we are speaking i feel she is very attentive and engage in the conversation(s) at hand. I enjoy how relatable she can be on difficult topics. All I have to say about Miranda is GOAT.
