Hi! I’m Kaitlyn, a Mental Health Counselor here at Overcomers Counseling. I’m passionate about walking alongside my clients, helping them process and overcome hard things so they can live life with joy and compassion for themselves and others. Whether you are seeking counseling for yourself or you’re a parent seeking play therapy or counseling for your child/teen, I would be excited and honored to walk with you. As a counselor, I enjoy journeying with my clients and providing a safe, comfortable, and fun space for them to explore who they are and find the resources and tools needed to navigate life’s challenges and difficult emotions. I obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and I have experience working with children, teens, and adults. My specialty areas include anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, and life transitions. When working with clients, I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy, while remaining open to whatever approach best fits the needs of my clients. I’m originally from South Louisiana but moved to Colorado during the summer of 2023 with my husband, Adam, and our dog, Honey. I enjoy reading, hiking, biking, and bouldering in my free time. I also love talking and laughing with friends over a good cup of coffee.

Your comfort is paramount, and we will proceed at a pace that suits you, working towards your desired goals for a better life. It would be my privilege to provide guidance and assistance, creating a customized plan tailored to your specific needs, marking the start of a new and prosperous chapter. I would be honored to have a conversation with you today, which will kickstart your healing journey. I have a specific interest in incorporating somatic approaches into therapeutic practices within the workplace. I am skilled in utilizing cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches to enhance treatment outcomes. My primary objective is to actively engage in deep listening and provide assistance in fostering meaningful connections and developing effective coping mechanisms.

My approach to therapy is caring, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I use different styles of therapy depending on your needs, but at the heart of it, I believe healing happens in a safe, supportive relationship. I often work with people who are feeling anxious, going through relationship struggles, dealing with low self-esteem, navigating big life changes, or figuring out what it means to be highly sensitive or neurodivergent. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that once helped them cope but no longer feel useful. Together, we gently explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion. People often describe me as calm, present, and easy to talk to. At the same time, I stay actively involved in sessions. I believe real growth usually means stepping a little outside your comfort zone, and my role is to support you in stretching just enough to foster change, without overwhelming your system. My hope is that therapy with me feels like a space where you can bring your whole self and know that you’ll be met with care and respect. Outside of the therapy room, I’m also pursuing my PhD in Counseling Psychology. My research looks at how we adjust during big life transitions, including culture shock, finding belonging, and how our sense of self can shift during these times.

An eclectic heart, special operations veteran, and dedicated clinical mental health counselor with a lifelong commitment to human potential, wellbeing, and service. Over 33 years, I have followed a calling through hospitality, military intelligence, nonprofit, and social services while pursuing advanced studies in psychology, mental health, and spirituality. This path has been filled with profound love, peace, joy, laughter, wisdom, friendship, and community. Yet it has also traversed the depths of death, deprivation, pain, depravity, exploitation, and malevolent corruption. Through these experiences, I have been humbled to work through multiple injuries and chronic pain, navigate my own mental health struggles, and face the disorientation of existential angst and spiritual crisis. Each passage through discovery and darkness has deepened my compassion, broadened my perspective, and strengthened my conviction that healing is not the absence of suffering but its conscious integration into a larger, more meaningful whole. My aim is to expand integrative and accessible pathways to sustainable wellbeing for both individuals and communities. By combining emerging technologies with care that remains both personal and patterned, I seek to position this work on the living edge of holistic and innovative mental health practice.

Hello, I will offer you my utmost respect and encouragement throughout the therapy process. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Montana State University - Billings. I have worked for several mental health agencies, including positions in elementary schools, high schools, and on a college campus. Additionally, I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology and counseling at the university level. I have supervised graduate interns as they complete their hours toward licensing and have overseen an outpatient therapy department. Furthermore, I have served as a campus counselor, assisting college students with their personal growth and relationship issues. Having "hope" is one of the most important motivators to overcome life challenges. Finding "hope" can immediately change one's mood from despair to peace. I have significant experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, motivation, finding purpose, and life transitions. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, but we all need help to navigate this life. I will provide you with support, encouragement, an outside perspective, and space to explore productive options to steer your life in the right direction and, most importantly, find "hope." A whole stack of memories never equals one little hope.
