Domestic Violence Counseling for Survivors in Colorado

Living with domestic violence, whether physical, emotional, or both, can leave you feeling unsafe in your own life. You shouldn't have to sort through the fear, grief, and confusion alone. Overcomers Counseling offers confidential, trauma-informed counseling for survivors across Colorado Springs, Aurora, Fort Collins, and Pueblo, plus statewide teletherapy.

You Don't Have to Carry This Alone

Survivors of domestic violence often feel isolated, whether because of control from a partner, shame, or simply not knowing who to trust. None of what you've experienced is your fault, and healing doesn't have to happen on anyone else's timeline. Our therapists offer a safe, confidential space to be heard and supported.

What Counseling Can Support

Survivors often seek counseling for processing trauma and fear, rebuilding a sense of safety and control, navigating the emotional aftermath of leaving or staying, understanding the effects of trauma on the body and mind, and reconnecting with confidence and identity. Whatever stage you're in, our therapists meet you there.

How Our Therapists Help

Our providers use trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR, to help you process traumatic experiences safely and at your own pace, alongside practical coping strategies for anxiety, hypervigilance, and sleep disruption that often follow trauma. For clients who want it, we also offer faith-integrated counseling. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911, or reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233, available 24/7 and confidential.

How can a counselor help me leave an abusive relationship safely?

Leaving an abusive relationship can feel like trying to escape a maze with no clear exit. It is a very dangerous time. A counselor can be your guide, helping you create a detailed and secure safety plan that is specific to your situation. We’ll work with you to identify risks, find resources, and connect you with a supportive network. We understand the unique challenges and fears that come with leaving, and we are here to support you in every way possible. You deserve to be safe.

Is it my fault that I was in an abusive relationship?

One of the most painful parts of being a victim of domestic abuse is the burden of blame, but we want you to know with certainty: it is never your fault. An abuser’s actions are a reflection of their own issues, not a reflection of your worth. Counseling provides a space where you can gently put down that heavy weight of guilt and shame. We’ll help you understand the dynamics of abuse so you can rebuild your sense of self and remember that you are worthy of love and respect.

AI Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.

Dr. Roncalli is such a huge support and help for me. She is brilliant, and very quickly added insight, developed applicable life skills, and is a grounding presence. Overcomers practice is clean, safe, and the atmosphere is calming. I'm thankful I met her when I did.

I really appreciate how she helped me with my anger management, anxiety, she helped me with my issues with my dad, etc. I really appreciate everything that she did for me and she opened my eyes to realize that there is so much more to life than what you can see with your bare eyes.

The staff is super awesome. It’s a breath of fresh air being able to get the weight off of my chest. 5/5 10/10 whatever the scale. I never realized how much it would help. Wish I would’ve done it sooner! Better late than never !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have been through some very extreme trauma, and I've also done so much research and done so much work on my own. As a very self aware patient, it's insanely difficult to find a good fit for a therapist. Sometimes you just need to find someone who thinks outside of the box. Someone who makes you see a different perspective. I found this in Stefanie Kerr. She the most wonderful therapist I have ever met, and I've met A LOT! She encourages you to see yourself as just a normal human. You get stuck in this mindset that you aren't normal and get used to the label of being a broken person and she somehow makes you feel like you were never actually broken at all, you were just using your toolbox all wrong. She gives you the guidance to use what you found that works for you and makes it better! She smashes toxic coping mechanisms and helps you turn them into beneficial ones. She not only improved my life but my relationship with emotions in general. Along the way therapy with her has even helped my marriage!! Not only has my spouse seen a huge change in me, but my peers have pointed out how absolutely zen I am compared to how emotionally dysregulated I used to be. The way she changes your relationship with emotions is absolutely magical and I will recommend her to everyone I know until I die. She is an absolute blessing to the therapy world.
