About Jessica

Life can look perfectly fine from the outside while feeling overwhelming on the inside. You may be constantly overthinking, emotionally exhausted, questioning yourself, or caught in patterns that leave you feeling stuck. Maybe anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, or difficult life experiences have made it harder to feel like yourself. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone.

Therapy is a place where you'll be heard, understood, and challenged in ways that support meaningful growth. Together, we'll make sense of what's been keeping you stuck, discover what matters most to you, and create a path forward that feels authentic to the life you want to build. If you already know your goals, we'll work toward them. If you're not sure where to begin, we'll figure that out together. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while integrating other evidence-based approaches to meet your unique needs.

I don't believe you need to become someone else to build a better life. More often, the work is about removing the barriers that have kept you from becoming the person you've always been capable of being. Over time, many clients find they feel calmer, more confident, less controlled by anxiety or past experiences, and more trusting of themselves. They build healthier relationships, set stronger boundaries, and move through life with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose. My hope is that therapy becomes not just a place to process what's difficult, but a place where lasting change begins.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." — Carl Rogers

The first step towards finding the right counselor is what we call 'Getting Matched.' Our Get Matched form will evaluate your needs and display a matching counselor or nurse practitioner that fits your needs. Answering these questions will help you narrow down your search to a few counselors who align with your needs.

Yes absolutely!  You'll receive email and text reminders about your upcoming sessions.

Of course! We will bill your primary and secondary insurances. You'll be able to provide us with both insurance payers after booking a session.

Absolutely!

Most insurances do NOT require a prior-authorization. However, upon booking a session with us, our support team will verify your benefits to determine if a prior authorization is required.

Prior authorization is required for Tricare Primary Active Duty Members (IP is the military personnel)
If you have Tricare Prime Active Duty and the active duty personnel is the IP (identified patient) then a prior authorization is required when seeking counseling from a civilian provider such as Overcomers Counseling.  However, family members of the Active Duty member do not need prior authorization.

Couples counseling is typically not covered by insurance. This is because many insurance companies consider relationship counseling as not medically necessary, therefore, it falls outside the standard coverage. Please visit our Costs to learn more about our rates.

Yes!  Health First Colorado (Medicaid CO) is broken up into seven regions (RAEs), and Overcomers is in-network with all regions.  On rare occasions, Overcomers may not be able to accept a client with specific stipulations with their Medicaid benefits.  Upon booking a session, Overcomers will verify your benefits.

Gemini Ai
AI Summary
Across hundreds of client reviews, one theme comes through again and again: people feel truly heard here. Clients describe finally finding a therapist who understood them, gaining real tools for anxiety, trauma, and anger management, and walking away from sessions feeling lighter and more hopeful. Many say Overcomers was the first place therapy actually felt like the right fit — a space to be met with warmth, patience, and genuine care on the path to becoming who they're meant to be.

I have been with overcomers for years as a therapy patient and recently transfered from a different psychiatrist to Shannon Powell. She made the whole process so simple and seamless. I was honestly expecting things to be a lot more difficult but was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for making me feel so heard and understood! 10/10 stars!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I feel like she listens to everything I have to say in a non-judgemental way. She remains nuetral and provide valid information as necessary and doesnt feed into my delusions, yet help me escape them step by step. When we are speaking i feel she is very attentive and engage in the conversation(s) at hand. I enjoy how relatable she can be on difficult topics. All I have to say about Miranda is GOAT.
