What is the goal of counseling for perpetrators of sexual abuse?

The goal of counseling for perpetrators of sexual abuse is to help you take back control of your life. While you may have been told you can't change, we believe you can. We can work together to help you understand what triggers your behavior, so you can learn new ways of handling your impulses without resorting to abuse. We will give you the tools and support you need to develop a healthier way of being and live a more peaceful life.

Can counseling truly help a person stop abusive behavior?

Yes, it can. Change is possible. Taking the first step to seek help is a powerful sign of your strength and willingness to change. Our counseling is a non-judgmental space where we help you understand the root of your behavior. We'll give you a new playbook for responding to your urges, so you can choose a different path. How does counseling address the reasons for the behavior?

Understanding why you act the way you do is the first step toward change. It’s like finding a map for a journey that has gone wrong. Dr. Roncalli is such a huge support and help for me. She is brilliant, and very quickly added insight, developed applicable life skills, and is a grounding presence. Overcomers practice is clean, safe, and the atmosphere is calming. I'm thankful I met her when I did.

The staff is super awesome. It’s a breath of fresh air being able to get the weight off of my chest. 5/5 10/10 whatever the scale. I never realized how much it would help. Wish I would’ve done it sooner! Better late than never !

Stefanie Kerr, LPCC, NCC, MA
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have been through some very extreme trauma, and I've also done so much research and done so much work on my own. As a very self aware patient, it's insanely difficult to find a good fit for a therapist. Sometimes you just need to find someone who thinks outside of the box. Someone who makes you see a different perspective. I found this in Stefanie Kerr. She the most wonderful therapist I have ever met, and I've met A LOT! She encourages you to see yourself as just a normal human. You get stuck in this mindset that you aren't normal and get used to the label of being a broken person and she somehow makes you feel like you were never actually broken at all, you were just using your toolbox all wrong. She gives you the guidance to use what you found that works for you and makes it better! She smashes toxic coping mechanisms and helps you turn them into beneficial ones. She not only improved my life but my relationship with emotions in general. Along the way therapy with her has even helped my marriage!! Not only has my spouse seen a huge change in me, but my peers have pointed out how absolutely zen I am compared to how emotionally dysregulated I used to be. The way she changes your relationship with emotions is absolutely magical and I will recommend her to everyone I know until I die. She is an absolute blessing to the therapy world.
