The life of a therapist: safety and risk, seeing people at their best and at their worst. Knowing what it is to be both human and humane. Most especially, being continually amazed at people's capacity to grow, and the strengths in the challenges they face. During my path to becoming a clinical social worker, I was blessed to have a supervisor who discussed and gave feedback on the triumphs and the frustrations of working within mental health. During my supervision at a non-profit, my experiences that I obtained from working with my supervisor were all-encompassing, from discussing self-care, to best practices, to ethical implications. Having now been an LCSW for four years, I am excited to work alongside you, and grow with you during this process!
As a therapist and a supervisor, I believe in an empowerment approach to supervision; I will alternate between acting as a sounding board, a teacher, and a support system, depending on the needs of the supervisee. In the beginning, I may take a more direct approach, however, I will always encourage feedback and open discussion during sessions. I focus heavily on discussing the ethical responsibilities of therapists, as well as operating with a best practices perspective.
