Counselors Jury Duty Policy

The following outlines the compensation guidelines for clinicians summoned to jury duty while employed at Overcomers Counseling.

Procedure

  1. Notification: The clinician must notify their supervisor and/or Admin as soon as they receive a jury duty summons.
  2. Verification: The clinician must provide proof of jury service, such as a court summons or jury duty certificate. Also, the clinician must write a cancelation note for all canceled sessions explaining that the clinician was on Jury Duty.
  3. Compensation: The clinician will be paid the GREATER amount of these options.
    1. $50 per day for the first 3 days in which 1 or more sessions were canceled while on jury duty. The Colorado Department of Labor legally requires the minimum.
    2. 1/4 of the number of canceled sessions multiplied by the clinician's current hourly rate. The maximum payout period is limited to one month.
  4. Time Off: If a clinician is selected to serve on a jury for an extended period, they may use accrued paid time off (PTO) or take unpaid leave for any additional time missed beyond their canceled sessions.

Additional Notes

  • Clinicians are encouraged to fulfill their civic duty of jury service.
  • This policy aims to minimize the financial impact of jury duty on our clinicians.
  • Any questions about this policy should be directed to HR (hr@overcomewithus.com).
