Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities

Reviewing the supervisee’s bio on the portal

Bio’s can be found on the Directory.  Specifically, pay attention to the “specialties” area of the bio and explore with the Supervisee if they are qualified to work in all areas they selected.

"Qualified" means they have received education, training, and supervision in this area.

Code of Ethics

Review the code of ethics with the supervisee.  OC will purchase this resource if the Supervisor/Supervisee(s) needs one.  Make a request to Jennifer Luttman individually (via email)

DSM-5

A DSM-5 is located at each office and online.  The online version can be found here: Shared Drive - Therapy Resources - DSM-5.   https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1DbcLrTUQsWRT1XUiuGQMfX74kdoXo1Fy

Discuss diagnosing abilities with the supervisee to understand their proficiency in this area and need for additional work in this area.  If necessary use the Test Questions - Diagnostic Criteria (DSM) to aid the supervisee in gaining more proficiency in their diagnostic skills.  OC will purchase this resource if the Supervisor needs one.  Make a request to Jennifer Luttman individually (via email)

Live Supervision

Supervisors are to schedule live supervision (in person, virtually, or video) with each Supervisee at least every 6 months.  If a video is made, remember to follow all HIPAA guidelines.   Supervisor will provide Supervisee feedback on their live supervision session.  Forms are found in the TN Library

Consultation

The Supervisor is to inform Supervisees that the following areas are to be brought to the Supervisor’s attention with all clients they work with:

  1. DHS/police report
  2. Mandatory Reporting of Child/Elder Abuse/ID abuse
  3. Suicidal Ideation/Safety Concern
  4. Subpoena received by the Supervisee
  5. Request to release records or write a treatment summary

Billing Supervisor for notes of Supervisee

The Supervisor will be assigned as the billing supervisor for all clinical supervisees (unless not credentialed with a specific insurance panel).  Notes are to be signed within 24 hours of the Supervisee signing the note.

Supervisor Evaluation

Administration will send all Supervisees “The Evaluation of the Supervisee Experience” form in January and June of each year.  The Supervisees' responses will remain anonymous so that the supervisees can answer the questions with total honesty and without fear that their answers could be used against them in any way.  The evaluations will be reviewed by administration (Garrett and Jenny).  Jenny will email the Supervisor’s in January and June to schedule a time to discuss any concerns that have been brought up in the evaluations.
